Story: Sathya (Anika Surendran) is a girl from a middle-class family who lives with her family in a small village. She falls in love with Murali (Surya Vashishtha) after dialing his number by mistake. One day, they meet for the first time in Vizag. This is the moment, an unemployed boy Ramakrishna aka RK (Arjun Das) comes on the scene. What is the link between Murali and RK? What is the role of Ramakrishna (Arjun Das) in the middle, will RK interfere in the love story of Murali and Sathya? Why does Ramakrishna follow Sathya? To get these answers, one must watch the movie on the silver screen.

Performance: The highlight of the film is Arjun Das who plays Ramakrishna, a desperate jobless graduate who will do anything for a living. He is complicated, hot-tempered, vulnerable, and mysterious. Her striking performance in the film stands out with subtle expressions, controlled mannerisms, and mature characterization. The actor proves once again that he is here to play many more roles with a difference. Anika Surendran, who plays a village girl, looks cute in this movie. Anika Surendran steals the show with her performance. Surya Vashishtha, with his subtle acting, turns Murali into a lovable car driver. The trio has interesting chemistry on screen and together they have made the film a fascinating spectacle.

Technical: Shouree Chandrashekhar T Ramesh’s film sheds light on sex trafficking, one of the most serious problems girls and young women have faced in society since time immemorial. The mobile phone plays an important role in the movie Butta Bomma. The filmmaker has shown great caliber in bringing the actors together and has created an exciting story set in Vizag. Vamsi Patchipulusu’s cinematography and Gopi Sundar’s music are an integral part of the narrative and the duo has added weight to the story by treating each terrain of the film in different tones. Gopi Sundar’s background score set the right mood in the film and the editing could have been better. The production values of this limited-budget movie are good.

Analysis: Butta Bomma is an official Telugu remake of the Malayalam film Kappela. The story is simple and neat without much confusion. The action sequences are realistic. The film at some points moves at a slow pace, particularly when Murali and Sathya fall in love on the phone.

 Rating: 2.5/5
