Jagan ignores Vysyas, Kammas, Rajus, and Brahmins!

There are arguments that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Cabinet 2.0 has not done social justice, even as AP government adviser Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy hailed the renovation as a “revolutionary” exercise, as it had given due representation to minorities. While 11 ministers from the old Cabinet remained, Jagan brought 13 new faces to the new group.

People from different communities hoped that they would be given recognition in the Cabinet since the general election is only two years away. Leaders of various community associations felt that Jagan would make a calculated move to appease and keep various sectors of society content because of the elections.

However, four communities have been completely ignored by Jagan during the Cabinet renewal. This time Jagan had bypassed the Kamma and Vysya communities. In his previous cabinet, Jagan brought in Kodali Nani and Vellampalli Srinivas, but this time he has left the duo aside and did not bring in any new people from these two communities.

The other community forgotten by Jagan is the Kshatriyas. In his previous Cabinet, Jagan has given rise to Sriranganatha Raju belonging to that community. There were rumors that Jagan would replace Ranganatha Raju with Narasapuram MLA Mudunuru Prasada Raju in the new cabinet. Prasada Raju also pinned his hopes on the job, but it did not materialize.

Coming to the next community that was ignored by Jagan, none of the Brahmins were included in either the last Cabinet or the new Cabinet. Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu and Vice President Kona Raghupati, from the Brahmin community, hoped to be given elevation. Of the duo, Malladi was seen as the leading candidate for the Cabinet post but was also disappointed.

It is believed that this oversight will certainly affect the vote bank of specific communities during the 2024 elections.

Apart from this, YCP leaders in the Guntur district are not happy with the induction of the new face, Vidadala Rajani, to Cabinet 2.0. YCP’s main leader, Marri Rajasekhar, from the Kamma community, was left in the lurch even as he sacrificed his seat for Rajani’s sake. Before the 2019 elections, Jagan had promised to give Rajasekhar a ministerial seat even without the latter seeking favor, but his name has not appeared on the list of Jagan’s new cabinet.
