Amaravati Venkanna Temple Expansion: CM Chandrababu Naidu Launches ₹260 Crore Development Works

Amaravati Venkanna Temple Expansion: The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated a massive development plan to transform the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Amaravati into a grand spiritual destination similar to Tirumala. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu performed the ground-breaking ceremony at Venkatapalem, marking a new chapter for the capital city.

Spiritual Revival in Amaravati

The project aims to restore the religious and cultural glory of Amaravati by creating world-class infrastructure for devotees. The Total project cost: ₹260 crores, to be completed in two major phases.

Phase-1: ₹140 Crores for Major Temple Structures

TTD has allocated ₹140 crores for Phase-1 which includes:

  • Seven-storey Maha Rajagopuram
  • Fortified temple ramparts
  • Arjitha Seva Mandapam
  • Mirror mandapam for rituals
  • Pushkarini (holy pond)
  • Anjaneya Swamy Temple
  • Vehicle & chariot mandapams
  • Cut-stone flooring & decorative structures

These advanced facilities will ensure both traditional architectural beauty and modern convenience for pilgrims.

Phase-2: ₹120 Crores for Devotee Facilities

The next stage will focus on accommodating the growing number of visitors:

  • Mada streets like Tirumala
  • Huge Annadana Complex
  • Pilgrim rest houses
  • Staff & priest quarters
  • Administrative building
  • Meditation & spiritual zones
  • Parking facilities & approach roads

Once completed, Amaravati will evolve into a prime spiritual hub in South India.

Revival of Stalled Works

The earlier TDP government had planned this massive temple project in 25.417 acres near the Krishna River. But under the previous administration, the budget was cut, and construction slowed.

Now, the new government has revived the halted plan, ensuring rapid development to fulfil Amaravati’s vision as a global spiritual destination.

Conclusion

With the temple development gaining momentum, Amaravati is set to flourish in pilgrimage tourism, cultural heritage, and economic growth — bringing divine grandeur back to Andhra Pradesh’s capital.
