Nirmala Sitharaman: Foundation Stone Laid for New Bank Offices in Amaravati

Amaravati Bank Offices Foundation Stone: The development of Andhra Pradesh’s capital, Amaravati, has taken a significant step forward. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited Amaravati and laid the foundation stone for the state-level offices of 15 national banks and financial institutions.

The event was held near the Seed Access Road at the CRDA project site in the capital. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Education Minister Nara Lokesh participated in the program.

₹1,334 Crore Investment in Amaravati Financial District

According to officials, a total of ₹1,334 crore will be utilised for the construction of these bank and insurance offices. Once completed, these buildings will form a key part of the Amaravati Financial District, allowing banks and financial institutions to shift from rented offices to permanent state headquarters in the capital city.

Attract corporate and financial investments

Generate large-scale employment opportunities

 

Central Government Support for Capital Development

Speaking at the ceremony, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman assured that the Central Government will extend full support for Amaravati’s development.

Before the event, CM Chandrababu Naidu presented details about:

  • Andhra Pradesh’s financial situation
  • Polavaram project progress
  • Amaravati capital development plans

He also appealed for additional financial assistance from the Centre.

Farmers’ Sacrifice Will Be Honoured: Nara Lokesh

Education Minister Nara Lokesh highlighted that farmers gave up fertile three-crop lands for Amaravati.

“Amaravati is the farmers’ sacrifice. We will honour their trust and build a world-class capital for one state — one capital: Amaravati,” he said.

One Financial Street — A Game Changer: Pawan Kalyan

Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan praised Amaravati’s future as a financial hub.

He stated that having numerous banks and major financial companies on a single street is a rare and powerful growth opportunity that will boost rapid investment and economic transactions.

Large numbers of farmers, women, residents, and employees attended the event to witness Amaravati’s fresh momentum toward becoming a global financial city.
