Vijay’s Public Meeting in Puducherry Disrupted by Gun Attempt: Security Intervenes
Vijay public meeting Puducherry: Puducherry witnessed a tense moment at TVK (Tamilaga Vetri Kalagam) chief Vijay’s public meeting, when a man attempted to enter the venue carrying a gun. Thanks to vigilant security personnel, the individual was immediately stopped and detained during metal detector checks. The man has been identified as David, a guard working under the party’s Sivagangai district secretary, Prabhuk, and is currently under interrogation.
As the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections 2025 approach, Vijay is intensifying his political campaign in Puducherry. Today, he addressed a gathering at Uppalam Grounds, where the Puducherry government had granted conditional permission, allowing only 5,000 attendees. Speaking at the event, Vijay asserted that the TVK party would secure a landslide victory in Puducherry and called for state-level recognition for the Union Territory. He criticized the central government for neglecting Puducherry’s development and emphasized his commitment to the region’s growth.
This marks Vijay’s first public meeting since the Karur stampede tragedy, which claimed 41 lives. In response to past incidents, Puducherry Police enforced strict security measures at today’s event. Attendance was restricted, banning individuals from other states, infants, pregnant women, and the elderly to ensure safety.
Vijay’s return to public rallies comes amid high political stakes, and authorities remain alert to prevent any untoward incidents. The prompt action by security during the gun attempt ensured that the event continued without further disruptions.
