A major development has taken place in Vijayawada politics, as Vangaveeti Ranga’s daughter
Asha Kiran political entry: Vangaveeti Asha Kiran has officially announced her entry into politics. She revealed her decision on Sunday after paying floral tributes to her father’s statue near Raghavaiah Park in Vijayawada.
Speaking to the media, Asha Kiran confirmed that she is stepping into public life, adding that she attended the event following an invitation from the Radha–Ranga Mitra Mandali. She stated that she is determined to fulfill Vangaveeti Ranga’s ideals and dreams and will work to strengthen the bond between Radha and the Mitra Mandali, which has weakened over time.
Asha Kiran mentioned that she had been away from public activities for several years but is now fully prepared to work among the people. She vowed to stand by citizens during any hardship, just as her father Ranga supported everyone irrespective of caste or religion. She expressed her commitment to spreading his principles more strongly among future generations.
Political Background of the Vangaveeti Family
After the assassination of Vangaveeti Ranga, his wife Ratna Kumari entered active politics and won twice as the MLA of Vijayawada East. Later, their son Vangaveeti Radha won from the same constituency as a Congress candidate in 2004. Although he contested again in later years, he faced defeat. Radha later moved through multiple parties, including Congress, Praja Rajyam, YSRCP, and joined the TDP in 2019, where he continues to remain.
A buzz has existed for some time that Radha would receive a key position once the TDP-led coalition formed the 2024 government. However, no official movement has been seen toward that yet.
Will Asha Kiran Join TDP, or Choose Another Party?
Rumours about Asha Kiran’s political entry have surfaced multiple times over the last few years, but no concrete step was taken until now. With her recent confirmation, a suspenseful debate has begun regarding her political direction.
Will she join the same party as her brother Radha, or will she choose a different political path? For now, no decision has been announced, and speculation continues.
