Telangana Panchayat Elections 2025: Schedule, Reservations and Complete Arrangements in Place

Telangana Panchayat Elections 2025: The Telangana government has accelerated preparations for the upcoming Panchayat and local body elections, aiming to conduct the polls at the earliest. In the recent cabinet meeting, the government finalized a key decision to hold elections based on old reservations, ensuring a smooth and timely election process. It also confirmed that 42% of seats will be reserved for BCs, marking a significant move in the allocation of party positions.

The government is proceeding as per the recommendations of the Dedication Commission. A new GO on reservations for Gram Panchayats has been issued, clearly defining the reservation procedure for Sarpanch and ward member positions. Another major guideline states that total reservations should not exceed 50%, as per constitutional limits.

Before the next cabinet meeting on the 25th of this month, the government is expected to release the updated reservation GO. Ministers have already completed the groundwork for this, including finalising seats reserved for women. If all goes as scheduled, the Gram Panchayat election notification is likely to be released on the 26th or 27th.

Panchayat Elections to be Held in Three Phases

Officials have been instructed to complete the entire local body election process between the first and second week of December. The Telangana government is aiming to replicate the successful results achieved in Jubilee Hills and Secunderabad Cantonment. To strengthen its prospects, the Congress party has appointed new DCC teams ahead of the elections. Under their leadership, the cadre is being re-energised to ensure strong performance in rural areas.

Performance Review of Collectors and Police Officers

Ahead of the elections, the Revanth Reddy government has conducted a comprehensive review of district collectors and police officers. Based on performance evaluation reports, major administrative changes are expected. The government has already transferred 32 IPS officers and 9 non-cadre SPs, and several district collectors are also likely to be shifted.

The Chief Minister has identified four districts where new collectors will be appointed immediately. These swift developments in the state administration are adding to the political momentum as the crucial Telangana Panchayat Elections 2025 approach.
