Smriti Mandhana Wedding Postponed: Father Suffers Heart Attack, Cricketer Takes Emotional Decision
Indian women’s cricket team vice-captain and star opener Smriti Mandhana has postponed her wedding following a tragic incident in her family. Smriti, who was scheduled to marry music composer Palash Muchhal on November 23 in Sangli, Maharashtra, put the ceremony on hold after her father suffered a sudden health emergency.
Father Suffers Heart Attack on Wedding Morning
On the morning of the wedding, Smriti’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, experienced severe chest pain while having breakfast. His condition worsened quickly, and he was rushed to a hospital in Sangli. A team of doctors is continuously monitoring his health condition.
This unexpected medical emergency forced the family to postpone the wedding.
Smriti Mandhana’s Emotional Decision
According to her manager, Tuhin Mishra, Smriti herself made the tough decision not to go ahead with the wedding until her father fully recovered. This emotional step reflects her strong bond with her family.
Smriti also removed all wedding-related posts from her social media accounts—including her viral engagement reel—surprising her fans even further.
Engagement Reel Missing
Earlier, Smriti had announced her engagement through a fun Instagram reel where she danced to the song “Samajh Lo Ho Hi Gaya” from Lage Raho Munna Bhai.
The video had also featured teammates:
Jemimah Rodrigues
Shreyanka Patil
Radha Yadav
Arundhati Reddy
However, that reel and other wedding-related posts have now disappeared from her Instagram.
Palash Muchhal’s Reactions
Interestingly, Palash Muchhal has not removed his posts. Just two days before the wedding, he had shared a heartfelt proposal video from the DY Patil Stadium, which is still visible on his social media.
Fans are hoping that the couple will announce a new wedding date soon after Smriti’s father recovers.
