Shivajyothi’s Tirumala Remarks Spark Major Controversy – Devotees Demand Action
Popular TV anchor Shivajyothi (Savitri) has found herself at the center of a major controversy after a video of her making remarks about Tirumala Prasadam went viral on social media. The comments, made during her visit to Tirumala along with her husband Gangulu and close friends, have triggered widespread anger among devotees and Hindu organizations.
According to the viral footage, Shivajyothi and her group were standing in the queue when they received the sacred prasadam. While joking with her friends, Shivajyothi reportedly commented about the “costly prasadam.” One of her companions added, “I have never begged in my life… This is the first time I’m begging.” In response, Shivajyothi laughed and remarked, “The richest beggar!”
These comments did not sit well with devotees, who felt that comparing the holy prasadam distribution to begging was disrespectful. Many expressed outrage online, criticizing Shivajyothi for making insensitive remarks inside one of India’s most revered temples.
Violation of TTD Rules Adds to the Backlash
Apart from the controversial comments, the video recording itself has fueled further criticism. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has already banned reels, video recording, and photography inside temple premises to maintain the sanctity of the shrine.
Shivajyothi’s video clearly shows her filming the incident, which violates these temple guidelines.

Several devotees and Hindu groups have demanded strict action against Shivajyothi and her companions. They argue that:
