Shivajyothi Tirumala prasadam: The sacred Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) serves lakhs of devotees daily, offering Anna-Prasadam, milk, buttermilk and snacks while devotees wait in queue for darshan at Tirumala Venkateswara Temple. Many undertake the strenuous journey with faith and hope, only to be uplifted by a glimpse of the Lord and the sanctified prasadam.
However, recent remarks by anchor Sivajyothi stirred controversy. Known earlier for her “Teenmar”-style commentary and a popular stint on social media, she visited Tirumala with her brother and husband and recorded a video. Observing her brother receiving prasadam in the queue, she joked that “even the richest beggar” (referring to herself) was begging for the prasadam. The comment quickly went viral.
Devotees and traditionalists were deeply offended, interpreting the comment as disrespect toward the sanctity of “Srivari Prasadam.” The outrage spread across social media, prompting demands for action.
Facing intense backlash, Sivajyothi issued an apology: she emphasised her devotion to Lord Venkateswara, explained that her words were intended humorously in the context of “standing in the caste queue,” and asked forgiveness if anyone was hurt. She referred to her faith and personal experiences, stating that the Lord changed her life, and reiterated her respect for Srivari and his blessings.
Despite the apology, TTD reportedly took the matter seriously. According to circulating social-media reports, the temple authorities have blocked her Aadhaar card — effectively banning her from future visits to Tirumala. While an official announcement is still awaited, many devotees have welcomed the move. The final outcome will depend on how Sivajyothi responds to the decision.
