RGV’s Shocking Comments on iBomma Ravi Controversy: “Justifying Piracy Is Extremely Dangerous”
The iBomma Ravi controversy continues to shake the country, and director Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) has once again triggered a storm with his sensational remarks. Known for his bold opinions, RGV blasted those who justify piracy and criticized the growing trend of portraying pirates as heroes.
“Saying piracy is okay because ticket prices are high is a dangerous mindset” — RGV
Reacting to the ongoing debate on social media, RGV said that supporting piracy due to high movie ticket prices is an alarming and irresponsible argument. He warned that such thinking could eventually push society towards anarchy.
“If movie tickets are expensive, does that give us the right to watch piracy?
By that logic, should people steal a BMW from the showroom because they can’t afford it?” — RGV
Varma said this logic is no different from encouraging theft, and such ideas are damaging society’s moral foundation.
RGV Targets ‘Robin Hood Ravi’ Narrative
Some people have been calling iBomma Ravi a “Robin Hood” for leaking movies. RGV dismissed this comparison sharply.
“Robin Hood is not a hero. By today’s standards, he would be the world’s first terrorist.
Portraying someone who steals as a hero is a dangerous ideology.” — RGV
He said being rich is not a crime, and justifying theft in the name of helping the poor is misleading and harmful.
“Piracy won’t stop because there is demand — not because technology fails”
RGV explained that the root cause of piracy is not the lack of technology or ineffective policing, but audience behavior.
“As long as people are ready to watch stolen content, people like Ravi will continue to exist.” — RGV
According to him, people consume piracy not because of ethics or revolution, but because of “convenience and freedom.”
Shockingly, RGV admitted that even many film industry people watch pirated content — including himself in the past.
RGV’s Extreme Suggestion: Punish the Viewers Too
In one of his boldest statements, RGV said:
“If 100 people who watched pirated content are arrested and their names are made public,
people will understand that piracy is a serious crime.” — RGV
He emphasized that fear, not moral lectures, will reduce piracy.
Social Media Divided Over RGV’s Comments
RGV’s comments have ignited a massive debate online. While some agree with his viewpoint, others feel he is going too far. The iBomma Ravi controversy continues to grow as Varma’s statements spark further discussions on piracy, ethics, and movie ticket pricing.
