AP Govt to Launch ‘Raithanna Mee Kosam’ Program from 24th: CM Chandrababu Naidu Focuses on Pancha Sutras for Farmers
The Andhra Pradesh government has taken another major step toward strengthening the agricultural sector. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced that a new statewide farmer-awareness initiative called ‘Raithanna Mee Kosam’ will officially begin on 24th of this month. The program aims to educate farmers about the government’s newly introduced Pancha Sutras, designed to make agriculture more profitable and sustainable.
The CM revealed the details during a teleconference with over 10,000 officials from the agriculture and marketing departments.
What Are the Pancha Sutras?
The government has identified five major principles to transform the agriculture ecosystem:
Water Security
Demand-Driven Crop Cultivation
Agritech Implementation
Food Processing & Value Addition
Comprehensive Government Support
CM Naidu emphasized that these five principles must be communicated not only to all farmers but also to their families and those working in allied sectors such as dairy, poultry, aquaculture, horticulture, and sericulture.
Raithanna Mee Kosam Program Schedule
December 24–29: Public representatives and officials will visit every farmer’s house to educate them on the Pancha Sutras.
December 3: Workshops will be conducted at all Farmer Service Center (Rythu Seva Kendras) limits.
Agriculture and marketing officials will participate across all levels.
The Rythu Seva Kendras (RSKs) will play a central role in the program, preparing action plans and coordinating all field activities.
Farm Calling Program Also Initiated
CM Naidu stated that the state is already implementing initiatives like Annadata Sukhibhava-PM Kisan, through which ₹6,310 crore has been deposited into the accounts of 46.5 lakh farmers in two installments. The government is giving priority to:
- Drip irrigation
- Polam Kemandi program
- Natural farming promotion
- Natural Farming and Agritech Awareness
The CM stressed that modern scientific methods are essential for profitable farming. The government is promoting natural farming to:
- Protect soil fertility
- Reduce chemical usage
- Improve public health
Increase market value through certification and traceability
Natural farming products will be promoted widely in farmers’ markets.
He also highlighted that Growmore centers offer fertilizers at lower prices than private shops.
Reducing Cultivation Costs & Supporting Farmers
CM Naidu said the government is focusing on:
Lowering farmers’ input costs
Setting up food processing units for value addition
Understanding crop patterns and providing direct support
Educating farmers on the risks of excessive pesticides
Promoting global demand for organic produce
Efficient water management and soil testing
With reservoirs filled through advanced water management, farmers are encouraged to adopt better irrigation and soil health practices.
