Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Puttaparthi as a holy land and a divine blessing while speaking at the birth centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Addressing thousands of devotees, he said that Sai Baba’s teachings and lifelong commitment to service will continue to inspire generations and guide the world towards compassion.

Modi began his speech by expressing deep emotion and spiritual fulfillment:

“It is an emotional and spiritual experience for me to be among all of you in this sacred land. I had the privilege of offering my respects at the Samadhi of Sri Sathya Sai Baba a short while ago,” he said.

Centenary Celebrations: A Divine Blessing

Calling the centenary year a divine opportunity, the Prime Minister said:

“The celebrations are not just an event for our generation; they are a divine blessing. Though Baba is not physically among us, his teachings continue to guide humanity.”

On this special occasion, the Government of India released a ₹100 commemorative coin and a special postal stamp honoring Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Modi conveyed his wishes to all devotees celebrating the centenary year.

PM Modi highlighted that Indian culture places utmost value on service (seva)—whether it comes through the path of Bhakti, Jnana, or Karma.

He said that Sri Sathya Sai Baba was not someone confined to spiritual texts or ashrams.

His work touched the lives of millions across schools, rural areas, and tribal regions.

Baba’s famous message — “Manava Seva Madhava Seva” (Service to Man is Service to God) — remains a guiding principle for devotees worldwide.

PM Modi appreciated the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust and its institutions for continuing Baba’s mission of selfless service.

He highlighted the unique model of Sri Sathya Sai Hospitals, where:

There is no billing counter

All treatments are completely free

Patients are treated with dignity and compassion

This, he said, sets an example for the world.

Sai Family Adopts Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana

Modi also praised the Sri Sathya Sai family for deciding to open 20,000 Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana accounts for girl children.

He said that in the past decade:

Over 4 crore Sukanya Samriddhi accounts have been opened

More than ₹3.5 lakh crore has been deposited by families

Massive Expansion of Social Security in 11 Years

Highlighting national progress, PM Modi stated that India’s social security net had expanded dramatically.

In 2014, social security covered 25 crore people

Today, nearly 100 crore citizens are under various welfare schemes

He said that India’s welfare model and social security programs are being recognized globally for their scale and efficiency.
