PM Modi Constitution Day Message: Respect New Voters, Strengthen Democracy
PM Modi Constitution Day Message: On the occasion of Constitution Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid rich tributes to the framers of the Indian Constitution. He addressed the nation’s citizens with a special message, emphasizing the importance of respecting new voters and fulfilling civic duties for a stronger democracy.
Respect New Voters Who Turn 18
PM Modi said that every citizen who completes 18 years becomes a responsible voter, and they should be respected and encouraged to participate in the democratic process. He suggested that schools and colleges across India should organize special Constitution Day programs to spread awareness among young voters.
Democracy Strengthens Through Duties
The Prime Minister reminded that rights come from the fulfillment of duties, a principle that Mahatma Gandhi always believed in. Performing duties, he said, is the foundation of the country’s socio-economic progress.
On social media, PM Modi wrote:
“The decisions we take today and the responsibilities we fulfill will shape the future of our nation.”
He added that as India is marching forward towards Viksit Bharat (Developed India), every citizen must keep in mind their duties towards the nation.
Importance of Rights, Equality & Freedom
PM Modi highlighted that the Constitution of India gives great importance to values like respect, equality, and freedom. He urged people to honor the rights given by the Constitution while responsibly carrying out the duties that help build a strong democracy.
Tribute to Constitution Makers
He also saluted the vision and foresight of the Constitution’s architects, stating that their contribution will continue to inspire India’s developmental journey.
Why Constitution Day is Celebrated
The Constitution of India was adopted on 26 November 1949.
Since 2015, this day has been celebrated nationwide as Constitution Day / Samvidhan Diwas.
Although parts of the Constitution came into effect in 1949, the entire Constitution was enforced on 26 January 1950, celebrated as Republic Day.
