Palle Panduga 2.0: A Major Push for Rural Development in Andhra
Pawan Kalyan, the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and leader of Jana Sena Party, has officially launched Palle Panduga 2.0, unveiling an ambitious plan to transform rural infrastructure and improve livelihoods across the state.
Scope of the Programme
A total of 53,382 development works will be implemented across 13,326-gram panchayats at a cost of ₹6,787 crore.
The first phase of Palle Panduga saw construction of 4,000 km of CC (cement concrete) roads. The new phase aims at doubling that progress.
Planned works include:
Construction of 8,571 km of new roads and reconstruction of older, dilapidated roads.
Installation of 22,500 mini cowsheds to support dairy farmers.
Construction of 58 km of “magic drains” to improve rural sanitation and drainage.
Foundation Stone Laid in Sivakodu, Rajolu
The foundation stone for the first set of development works was laid in Sivakodu in the Rajolu constituency, marking the formal launch of Palle Panduga 2.0.
A Strong Warning to the Opposition
Addressing a public gathering, Pawan Kalyan issued a stern message to the ruling party in the previous tenure:
“If the previous government had lasted just one more year, the people would have revolted.”
He warned that despite attempts to court votes, the opposition — YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) — had not changed its behaviour or rhetoric.
With confidence, he declared that the coalition government would remain in power for at least another 15 years. He also sent a message to dissenters, including any within his own party: disrespect to the people’s mandate will not be tolerated.
What This Means for Rural Andhra
Palle Panduga 2.0 signals a major push toward improving rural infrastructure, boosting agricultural and dairy-based livelihoods, and bringing lasting change to remote villages. With thousands of roads, cowsheds, and drainage works planned, the program aims to create tangible improvements in daily lives.
The political undertones — especially the warning to opposition leaders — also reflect the government’s resolve to hold itself accountable and maintain trust with voters.
