Nagarjuna’s Shocking Comments About Naga Chaitanya & Akhil During ‘Shiva’ 4K Promotions
The re-release trend is booming in Tollywood, with iconic classics being brought back to the big screen using modern technology. Joining that list is the legendary film Shiva (1989) — a cult classic that changed the face of Telugu cinema forever.
Now, after 36 years, Shiva is returning to theatres in stunning 4K Ultra HD quality with Dolby Atmos sound, and the excitement among fans is sky-high. The movie is set for a grand worldwide re-release on November 14, 2025.
Nagarjuna and Ram Gopal Varma Open Up About ‘Shiva’ Remake
As part of the promotional campaign for the re-release, Akkineni Nagarjuna and director Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) attended a special press meet. The duo shared emotional memories and insights about the making of Shiva.
RGV said,
“Shiva is not just a movie — it’s a revolution. The honesty and rawness of that film cannot be repeated. That’s why there will never be a sequel. There is only one Shiva.”
Nagarjuna supported RGV’s words, adding,
“Shiva changed my life and career. It’s impossible to recreate that magic again.”
However, things took a surprising turn when a journalist asked Nagarjuna who he thought could do justice to a Shiva remake — Naga Chaitanya or Akhil Akkineni.
Laughing, Nagarjuna replied,
“Neither of them has the guts to remake Shiva. It’s impossible to recreate that film.”
His candid comment left everyone at the event stunned, and the video quickly went viral on social media. Fans flooded the internet with reactions, calling Shiva “a masterpiece that only Nagarjuna could deliver.”
Shiva 4K Re-Release Creating Huge Buzz
The excitement for Shiva 4K is massive. Bookings have already sold out in major cities like Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Chennai. Tollywood stars such as Prabhas, Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun, and Chiranjeevi have also shared heartfelt tributes to the film through special video messages.
Megastar Chiranjeevi called it,
“A masterpiece that started a new era in Telugu cinema.”
With support pouring in from stars and fans alike, Shiva 4K is expected to make a huge impact once again at the box office.
