Kingdom Review: Vijay Deverakonda’s latest film is ‘Kingdom’. Expectations for this film have already risen with the teaser and trailer. Let’s see in our review whether ‘Kingdom’ has satisfied audiences or not.
Kingdom Review: Vijay Deverakonda hasn’t had a hit of that caliber after Geetha Govindam. His subsequent films haven’t managed to entertain much at the box office. But Vijay’s popularity as a hero hasn’t diminished at all. Recently, he delighted us with an action-packed and entertaining film like ‘Kingdom’, directed by Gautham Tinnanuri and under the Sithara Entertainments banner. Let’s see in our review whether Vijay Deverakonda has entered the path of success with this film. As for the story…
Suri (Vijay Deverakonda) works as a police officer in the village of Ankapur, Telangana. He searches for his older brother, Shiva (Satyadev), who ran away from home as a child. Meanwhile, his older brother grows up as a petty kingpin for a small empire on an island in Sri Lanka. There, he carries out the tasks assigned to him by the big boss. However, the police department discovers that Suri is looking for his older brother and assigns him the task of capturing him. In this process, Suri meets his older brother, who is also imprisoned in a Jaffna, Sri Lanka jail. The two get to know each other. In this process, Suri, who met his older brother in Sri Lanka… did he bring his older brother back to India…? Why did Shiva have to run away from home as a child? How did he grow up as a petty kingpin in Sri Lanka? Ultimately, what kind of circumstances occurred in the lives of these brothers due to the big bosses in the area? However, the story of the film “Kingdom” is about how Suri, who came to Sri Lanka to arrest his brother in a police operation, became the king of the kingdom.
As for the story and technical aspects…
Director Gautam Tinnanuri wrote a good story… but failed miserably when directing it. He wrote this film in the context of reincarnation. He wrote the scene in which the British raided the areas where the tribal people lived in Srikukalam, Andhra Pradesh, in 1920, due to the presence of gold reserves. What sacrifices did the king of that area make to protect the people in his area? Then, he wrote scenes about some tribal people who escaped from the British and migrated to Sri Lanka. If they want to stay there, our country will fight them. They will kill them. In this context, it is good to convincingly show that the tribal people who arrive there will do whatever the kingpin tells them. If we cut to the chase, the story begins in 1991. While Suri, a police officer, is searching for his brother, an officer notices his temper and sends him on a covert operation. The scenes where Suri is sent to catch a crime boss living in Sri Lanka. The prison scenes are well-written. More could have been done. He highlighted Satya’s character more than Vijay Deverakonda’s in the film. He brought the entire film into a single, dark world. Some scenes are disturbing. He also wrote the emotional scenes between the brothers well. It was training. He wrote it well, such as revealing the reason the brother left home in the climax.
The visuals of the film are quite good. But the second half ends with a routine climax. In the end, Suri becomes a great help to the people of that island in Sri Lanka. However, the connection between Suri and the king who sacrificed his life for these tribes in 1920 is not convincing. That said, there are many flaws throughout the film. The person who sends him on a secret operation betrays him. In the climax, it shows the villain gang being killed routinely. Audiences don’t like to finish it without answering a million questions, like the villain’s brother making an entrance at the climax. The lack of a song, funny scenes, or a comedy track with the heroine is a major drawback. The entire film is serious. Although the first half was well done, the second half was completely routine. The audience was irritated by the bloodshed. No other film in recent times has seen this level of bloodshed. Overall, it must be said that the second half was irritating for the audience. Also, the fact that there is a sequel to this film tested the audience’s patience. The cinematography is good. The scenes in the first half where the Sri Lankan Navy destroys the hero’s ship are good. The beauty of Sri Lanka is well depicted. Anirudh RR is good. The editor’s work is not good.
