Kailasagiri Glass Skywalk Bridge Inauguration – Longest Cantilever Glass Bridge in India
Kailasagiri glass skywalk bridge: The stunning new glass skywalk at Kailasagiri, Visakhapatnam — touted as the nation’s longest cantilever glass bridge — is set to open on December 1. Built by Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) in collaboration with RJ Adventures, this 55-metre-long bridge surpasses the previous record-holder — a 40-metre glass bridge in Kerala — to claim the top spot in India.
This skywalk isn’t just longer; it’s engineered to impress. The glass was imported from Germany, and the structure is made from Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP), giving it a lightweight yet durable design that can withstand harsh coastal winds of up to 250 km/h.
Perched at 862 feet above sea level, the bridge offers panoramic views — from the shimmering Bay of Bengal to the verdant Eastern Ghats. Up to 100 people can be supported at once, with a total load capacity of 500 tons. For safety and comfort, authorities plan to initially allow 40 visitors per batch.
The bridge has passed several safety inspections. At night, it will be illuminated with tricolor electric lights, adding to its allure. According to VMRDA Chairman MV Pranav Gopal, this glass skywalk is expected to become a major draw — not only for tourists but also for residents of Visakhapatnam.
If you’re planning a trip to Kailasagiri, mark December 1 — and prepare to experience Visakhapatnam from a breathtaking new vantage point.
