Jatadhara Movie Review and Rating

Cast: Sudheer Babu, Sonakshi Sinha, Divya Khosla, Rajeev Kanakala, Jhansi, Shilpa Shirodkar

Directors: Venkat Kalyan, Abhishek Jaiswal

Genre: Supernatural Drama

Language: Telugu

Story Overview

Shiva (Sudheer Babu) is a ghost hunter who explores old, abandoned buildings in search of supernatural entities. Fascinated by the world of spirits, he decides to write a book about them. Despite warnings from his parents (Rajeev Kanakala, Jhansi), Shiva travels to the mysterious Rudraya Nagaram village for his research.

What unfolds there connects deeply to his past, his parents’ souls, and a haunting spirit named Dhana Pishachi (Sonakshi Sinha). The movie revolves around Shiva’s quest to uncover the secrets of Rudrayapuram, the curse of the treasure, and his attempt to free his parents’ souls.

Analysis

The directors, Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, had an interesting idea — blending parental sentiment, spirituality, and supernatural elements. However, poor writing and weak screenplay execution ruined the potential.

Even with big names like Sonakshi Sinha and Shilpa Shirodkar, the characters are underdeveloped and lack emotional depth. Sudheer Babu tries hard to carry the film, but the weak script and unconvincing emotional core make his efforts futile.

Performances

Sudheer Babu: Gives a sincere performance but fails to elevate the poorly written character.

Sonakshi Sinha: Her Telugu debut as a spirit feels wasted — the role lacks intensity and clarity.

Divya Khosla & Shilpa Shirodkar: Barely make an impact due to weak characterization.

Supporting Cast: Unable to engage or create an emotional connection with the audience.

Technical Aspects

The cinematography looks rushed, and the visual effects appear outdated for a supernatural thriller. The music lacks the haunting essence such a film demands. Even the production design feels incomplete, suggesting the film was made in haste.

Overall, the technical quality and narrative depth fail to meet expectations.

Verdict

Jatadhara is a missed opportunity — a film with an intriguing concept but poor execution. With weak storytelling, average performances, and below-par visuals, it fails to deliver either thrills or emotions.

If you’re curious, wait for its OTT release instead of watching it in theatres.

Final Rating: ⭐ 1.5/5
