IMD Rain Alert: Cyclone Senyaar Likely to Bring Heavy Rainfall to Telugu States

Cyclone Senyaar IMD Rain Alert: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major rain alert for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as a series of low-pressure systems are developing over the Bay of Bengal. Weather experts warn that these systems may intensify and lead to heavy rainfall across several districts in the coming days.

Cyclone Senyaar Threat Over the Bay of Bengal

According to IMD and APSDMA, a strong low-pressure area is currently active over the South Andaman Sea, Malaysia, and the Strait of Malacca. This system is expected to strengthen further.

A second surface depression is also accompanying the primary system, increasing the overall intensity of the weather pattern.

APSDMA reports that another low-pressure area is likely to form over the Comorin region, the Southwest Bay of Bengal, and the Sri Lanka area by November 25.

Meteorologists confirm that the current system may:

Intensify into a depression

Later strengthened into a deep depression

And ultimately form a cyclonic storm — Cyclone Senyaar — over the South Bay of Bengal within 48 hours

Rainfall Begins in Andhra Pradesh

Several districts in Andhra Pradesh are already experiencing light to moderate rainfall due to the existing depressions. Areas such as:

  • Prakasam
  • Nellore
  • Kadapa
  • Annamayya
  • Chittoor
  • Tirupati

are seeing scattered rains, which are likely to intensify as the cyclone strengthens.

If Cyclone Senyaar approaches the AP coast, the impact may be more severe, with heavy rains and strong gusty winds expected.

Rain Forecast: November 25–30

From November 25 to 28

Moderate rains likely in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh

Rain expected in the Rayalaseema districts

On November 29 & 30

IMD warns of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coastal and Rayalaseema regions

High-risk districts may witness intense spells with strong winds

Important Advisory for Farmers

This period coincides with the paddy harvesting season, increasing crop damage risk. APSDMA suggests farmers take the following precautions:

Precautions for Farmers

Harvested paddy must be stored safely without exposure to rain

Cover grain heaps completely using waterproof sheets

Ensure moisture doesn’t trigger sprouting or discoloration

Keep storage areas elevated and well-drained

Avoid leaving harvested crops in open fields

Telangana Weather: Cold Conditions Ease

Telangana, which recently experienced severe cold, is now witnessing slightly warmer conditions. Temperatures have risen from single digits.

Medak: 14.3°C

Adilabad: 15.7°C

The Hyderabad Meteorological Center says:

No significant rainfall in Telangana for the next 4–5 days

Rain chances may increase after Cyclone Senyaar crosses the coast

Conclusion

The IMD’s latest updates clearly indicate that Cyclone Senyaar could bring widespread rainfall to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over the next week. Residents and farmers are advised to stay alert and follow official weather advisories.
