Delhi Blast 2025: DNA Confirms Dr. Umar-un-Nabi as Main Suspect in Deadly Explosion

New Delhi: Delhi Blast 2025: The investigation into the Delhi car blast that shocked the nation has taken a major turn. Forensic reports have confirmed that Dr. Umar-un-Nabi was the one driving the car that exploded on Monday evening, killing 12 people and injuring over 20 others.

Authorities revealed that Umar’s DNA matched his mother’s DNA, confirming his identity. DNA samples from bones and teeth collected at the blast site were compared with those of his family, establishing that Umar was behind the wheel when the explosion occurred.

According to officials, Umar’s leg was trapped between the steering wheel and accelerator after the blast, confirming that he was driving the car at the time of detonation.

Terror Plot Uncovered: Plan for Multiple Blasts

Sources close to the investigation revealed that Umar and his associates, linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, were planning a series of explosions across India, including the National Capital Region.

Investigations show that Umar’s group had purchased three vehicles to carry out large-scale attacks using IEDs and assault rifles. One red EcoSport SUV found in Faridabad was reportedly used by another suspect, Dr. Muzammil.

The Delhi Police have detained three individuals in connection with the purchase and sale of the vehicles used in the plot.

Family in Shock

Dr. Umar’s family expressed disbelief over his alleged involvement in terrorism. His wife, Muzamil, said that Umar was quiet, studious, and worked as a college lecturer in Faridabad. She added that he last contacted her saying he was busy with exams and would return in three days.

NIA Takes Over Investigation

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially taken charge of the case. Preliminary forensic reports confirm that the explosive used was a mixture of ammonium nitrate, fuel oil, and detonators, linking it to the 2,900 kg of explosives seized earlier in Faridabad.

The Home Ministry has directed the NIA to investigate under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosive Substances Act, as the case points toward a larger terror conspiracy.
