Andhra Pradesh Bus Accident : Private Bus Catches Fire, 3 Dead
Andhra Pradesh bus accident: Another tragic road accident has shaken Andhra Pradesh, reminding people of the recent Kurnool bus fire incident. A private travel bus caught fire following a high-impact collision in Nandyal district, resulting in three deaths.
Andhra Pradesh bus accident Details
The incident occurred late at night at Sirivellametta in Sirivella mandal, Nandyal district. The private bus was traveling from Nellore to Hyderabad with 36 passengers on board.
According to preliminary reports, the bus tire suddenly burst, causing the driver to lose control. The speeding bus crossed the road divider and collided head-on with a container lorry coming from the opposite direction.
Bus and Lorry Engulfed in Flames
Moments after the collision, both vehicles burst into flames. The flames spread rapidly, leaving little time to react. The bus and container lorry were completely gutted in the blaze.
Due to the accident occurring at night, panic spread among passengers as visibility was low.
Three Killed on the Spot
The bus driver, lorry driver, and lorry cleaner died instantly. Their bodies were burnt beyond recognition because of the intense fire. Passenger luggage and personal belongings were also destroyed.
Heroic Act Saved Lives
- A major tragedy was averted due to quick thinking and bravery:
- The bus cleaner immediately alerted passengers to evacuate.
- A DCM vehicle driver stopped and broke the bus windows.
- Passengers escaped by jumping out through the windows.
- Residents rushed to assist and provide first aid.
- Several passengers suffered minor injuries, but no passenger fatalities were reported.
Police Response & Investigation
Police and fire department teams arrived promptly and controlled the fire. Injured passengers were shifted to Nandyal Government Hospital.
Nandyal Superintendent of Police Sunil Singh confirmed that all passengers are safe. A case has been registered, and an investigation into the tire burst and safety lapses is underway.
The Andhra Pradesh bus accident highlights serious concerns over vehicle safety and tire maintenance. While the loss of three lives is heartbreaking, timely action by the bus cleaner, a passing driver, and locals prevented a much larger tragedy. Authorities are now investigating to ensure accountability and prevent such incidents in the future.
