High Court Shocks ‘Akhanda 2’: Ticket Hike & Special Shows Cancelled in Telangana
Akhanda 2 ticket hike cancelled: Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much-awaited film ‘Akhanda 2: Tandavam’ has hit a major roadblock ahead of its release. Although the film was initially planned for a December 5th release, it was later postponed to December 12th due to unavoidable reasons. While Andhra Pradesh permitted a significant ticket price hike, Telangana had also granted approval for both special premiere shows and an increase in ticket rates.
However, this decision was challenged by Advocate Srinivas Reddy, who filed a lunch motion petition questioning the Telangana government’s unexpected approval.
Why Did the Court Cancel the Hike?
The High Court reminded that after the chaos witnessed during the ‘Pushpa 2’ premiere, Telangana officials had clearly stated that:
No special shows would be allowed, and
No ticket price hikes would be approved.
With the same rule applied to several films throughout the year, the court questioned the government on what basis special permissions were granted exclusively for ‘Akhanda 2: Tandavam’.
The High Court ultimately:
Cancelled the ticket price hike
Revoked permissions for special shows in Telangana
Production House Responds
Despite the court orders, 14 Reels Entertainment announced that the planned premiere shows will continue as scheduled, adding more curiosity and confusion among fans.
