Andhra King Taluka Movie Review, Rating – Ram Pothineni’s Comeback Still Pending?
Andhra King Taluka Movie Review: Ram Pothineni has been waiting for a solid hit for a long time. Apart from iSmart Shankar, none of his recent films have worked at the box office. Now, he arrives with a concept-driven film titled Andhra King Taluka, along with Upendra in a prominent role and Bhagyashree Borse as the female lead. Directed by Mahesh Babu P and jointly produced by Mythri Movie Makers & T-Series, the film released worldwide on November 27th.
Did Ram finally score a success? Let’s dive into the review!
Story Overview
Surya (Upendra) is a popular star whose 100th movie is halted due to a lack of funds. With no producer willing to invest because of his flop streak, Surya suddenly receives ₹3 crores from an unknown source.
He soon learns that the money came from Sagar (Ram Pothineni), the president of Surya’s fan club in a small village near Rajahmundry, which lacks basic facilities like electricity. Inspired by Surya since childhood, Sagar’s entire journey revolves around supporting his idol.
Alongside this, Sagar falls for Mahalakshmi (Bhagyashree Borse), daughter of strict theatre owner Purushottam (Murali Sharma). After a humiliating confrontation, Sagar challenges him — leading to emotional and dramatic consequences affecting love, fandom, and his entire village.
The rest of the story explores:
- Will Sagar succeed in his challenge?
- Can he help Surya complete his movie?
- How far will a fan go for his hero?
What Works
- Emotional father-son scenes
- Fresh love track and heroine introduction
- Satya’s comedy brings relief
- Upendra shines in key moments
- Motivational village upliftment scenes
- Strong background score by Vivek-Mervin
- Ram impresses in emotional performances
What Doesn’t Work
- Slow & dull first half
- Routine commercial screenplay in the second half
- Several unnecessary, logic-less scenes
- The flood episode feels forced
- Weak fan-hero bonding portrayal
- Editing issues — too lengthy
- Connects only to hardcore movie fans, not the general audience
Performances
- Ram Pothineni: Strong emotional acting, but the action impact is missing
- Upendra: Powerful presence, especially in the climax
- Bhagyashree Borse: Looks good, but limited scope
- Rao Ramesh & Murali Sharma: Impressive as always
- Satya & Rahul Ramakrishna: Good comic timing and support
Technical Side
Music & BGM: Superb
Cinematography: Visually striking
Editing Major drawback
Direction: Good idea, but weak execution
Dialogues: Emotional & meaningful
Director Mahesh Babu P tried to present a fan-centric story but couldn’t connect well with mainstream audiences.
Final Verdict
Andhra King Taluka is emotional but outdated — it works only for hardcore fans.
