Visakhapatnam Set to Become Andhra Pradesh’s Data-Center Hub

The wave of mega data-centre investments is shifting focus to Visakhapatnam. With a clutch of global tech firms committing to large-scale data infrastructure, the city is quickly being shaped into Andhra Pradesh’s — and potentially India’s — next major data-centre hub.

Already, a collective capacity of 3,000 MW has been green-lit across several high-profile projects, setting a strong trajectory for growth over the next three to four years.

Reliance’s Hyperscale Campus: A Flagship Project

One of the most ambitious proposals comes from Reliance Industries. In collaboration with Digital Connections, Reliance plans to develop a hyperscale data-centre campus spanning 400 acres.

  • Capacity: 1,000 MW
  • Investment: ₹98,000 crore
  • Target Completion: By 2030

This massive undertaking was finalised after in-depth discussions at a recent state-level partnership conference with the Andhra Pradesh government. The consensus confirms land and infrastructure commitments to fast-track the project.

Other Major Investments: Google, Brookfield & Sify

Reliance isn’t the only big player betting on Visakhapatnam. Other major investments already announced include:

  • Google — ₹1.33 lakh crore for a 1,000 MW advanced AI-ready data centre.
  • Brookfield — ₹1.10 lakh crore earmarked for a large-scale data centre infrastructure.
  • Sify Technologies — Groundbreaking recently completed for a ₹16,000 crore data-centre complex.

With these, the cumulative committed capacity already reaches roughly 3,000 MW — underscoring the magnitude of interest and confidence in Visakhapatnam’s data-centre prospects.

Why Visakhapatnam — And What This Means for the Region

The convergence of such massive investments is reshaping Andhra Pradesh’s technological landscape. Some key implications:

Emerging Data Capital: Visakhapatnam is fast becoming the go-to city for large-scale data infrastructure, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a critical node in India’s digital backbone.

Economic Impact: The scale of investment implies substantial job creation in construction, data centre operations, maintenance, and support services.

Tech Migration: The influx of global players may attract ancillary industries, startups, AI firms, and cloud-service vendors, fostering a broader technology ecosystem.

Strategic Shift in Infrastructure Planning: The state may need to adapt land use, power supply, connectivity, and regulatory frameworks to support this transformation.

Final Thoughts

Visakhapatnam’s transformation is not incremental — it’s strategic and bold. With ₹3 lakh crore in confirmed investments and a 3,000 MW capacity in the pipeline, the city is well on its way to becoming a national data centre powerhouse. For Andhra Pradesh, this marks a new chapter in digital infrastructure and economic growth.

  • I was curious if you ever thought of changing the structure of your website? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or 2 images. Maybe you could space it out better?

  • I was recommended this website by my cousin. I’m not sure whether this post is written by him as no one else know such detailed about my trouble. You are wonderful! Thanks!
